Terms of Service

1. Welcome to Ascendo

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and Ascendo. They cover the Ascendo app, the Ascendoverse games, our website at ascendoapp.com, and everything around them (together, the "Services").

By creating an account or using the Services, you're saying you've read these Terms and our Privacy Policy and you're good with them. If something doesn't sit right, please don't use the Services - and feel free to tell us why.

2. Who we are

Ascendo ("Ascendo", "we", "us", "our") is a personal growth platform that turns your goals and habits into quests, XP, and progress across your Life Areas, with connected experiences in the Ascendoverse. The fastest way to reach a real human on our team is to contact us.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You need to be at least 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, if that's higher) to sign up. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian has gone through these Terms with you.

Use accurate information when you sign up and keep it current. One person, one account - accounts are personal and can't be sold, shared, or transferred.

4. Your account and security

You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password and any third-party sign-in credentials (like Google) to yourself. If something looks off, contact us right away.

We may take reasonable steps to protect the Services, including pausing accounts that show signs of being compromised or misused.

5. The Ascendo service

Ascendo helps you grow across Life Areas by turning daily actions into quests and XP, surfacing patterns through stats and weekly reviews, and reflecting your progress into the Ascendoverse. We're constantly improving the product, so features can change, get added, or go away. If we ever remove something you really rely on, we'll do our best to give you a heads up first.

6. Your content

"Your Content" is everything you create inside Ascendo - your Life Areas, quests, notes, journals, goals, reflections, calendar entries, and messages to the AI Coach.

You own Your Content. You give us a limited license to host, store, sync, and process it only so we can actually run the Services for you - things like keeping your data in sync across devices, generating the AI responses you ask for, and creating backups.

You're responsible for what you put into Ascendo and for having the right to share it.

We don't read Your Content. Nobody at Ascendo opens your calendar events, notes, quick notes, to-do list, Life Areas, or progression data to look at what's inside. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

7. AI Coach and AI features

The AI Coach and other AI features generate replies based on what you give them. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out-of-date. Treat them as a thinking partner, not as the final word - and use your own judgment before acting on a suggestion.

AI features are not a substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice. If you're in crisis or need urgent help, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services. And please don't paste in things you wouldn't want processed by an AI system - government IDs, full payment card numbers, detailed medical records, that kind of thing.

8. Virtual items in games

The Ascendoverse is a connected world where your real-life progress shapes your in-game experience. Characters, levels, items, cosmetics, and other virtual goods ("Virtual Items") are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use inside the Services. They have no real-world cash value, can't be redeemed for money, and can't be sold or moved outside the Services.

We may adjust, reset, or remove Virtual Items as part of normal game operations - for example, to fix exploits, rebalance gameplay, or sunset features. When we do, we'll try to be fair and clear about why.

9. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Break the law, infringe on anyone's rights, or harass, threaten, or harm other people through the Services.
• Upload content that's illegal, hateful, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful - especially anything involving minors.
• Cheat, exploit bugs, automate gameplay, manipulate XP or leaderboards, or use unauthorized tools or bots.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or try to extract the source code of the Services, except where the law explicitly says you can.
• Scrape, copy, or harvest data from the Services, or use the Services to train machine-learning models without our written permission.
• Interfere with the Services - sending spam, introducing malware, or trying to overload our systems.
• Use the Services to build a competing product, or resell access to them without our written permission.

10. Free service

Ascendo is completely free to use. There are no paid plans, subscriptions, or in-app purchases required to access any feature.

11. Third-party services

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services (sign-in providers, AI model providers, app stores, and so on). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, we're not responsible for them, and using them is at your own risk.

12. Intellectual property

Ascendo, the Ascendoverse, our logo, the Life Areas system, our quest mechanics, the website, and all related software, design, and content belong to Ascendo or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for your own non-commercial growth. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.

13. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you let us use them freely - without owing you anything for them. We love hearing from you, and we want to be free to build on what you share.

14. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account whenever you want from your account settings, or by contacting us. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, put other people at risk, or if we have to for legal reasons. Where it makes sense, we'll give you a heads up and a chance to fix things.

When access ends, your right to use the Services ends with it. Anything that should reasonably outlive the account - the license over Your Content needed for backups and legal compliance, intellectual property, disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnification, and governing law - keeps applying.

15. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent allowed by law, Ascendo disclaims all warranties - express, implied, or statutory - including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Ascendo helps you build habits and reflect on your growth, but we can't promise any specific result, productivity gain, or well-being outcome. The decisions you make based on the Services are yours.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Ascendo and its affiliates, directors, employees, and partners aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, progress, Virtual Items, goodwill, or other intangible losses connected to your use of the Services.

This includes data loss or corruption caused by bugs, server errors, sync issues, or other technical problems. We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee perfection.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Services is capped at USD 50.

Some places don't allow certain liability limits, so parts of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

17. Indemnification

You agree to cover Ascendo and its affiliates for any claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable legal costs that come out of your use of the Services, Your Content, or your breach of these Terms or the law.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Stockholm, Sweden have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about these Terms or the Services - except that consumers can bring claims in the courts of where they live when mandatory local law requires it.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms now and then to reflect changes in our product, technology, or the law. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the latest revision. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
